Strawberry Hill's monthly art walk goes right past the door.

From a shipping container to 6th Street

Flagship Books is run by brothers Ty and Joel Melgren. They opened in 2021 in a shipping container in the Iron District of North Kansas City, and because the shop lived in a shipping container, it needed a ship's name. Joel came up with Flagship.

They outgrew the container within a year and came home to Strawberry Hill, the neighborhood they live in, opening on Ohio Avenue in February 2022. In April 2023 they moved uphill to a more visible storefront at 510 N. 6th Street.

The big map of Wyandotte County on the north wall was already there when they moved in, and it stayed. Kids are welcome to draw on the whiteboard, and the Strawberry Hill Neighborhood Association holds its meetings here.
